since 1999 u-cover works on bringing fine electronic music to a worldwide audience. until 2008 we've realized this as u-cover records and a number of offshoots showcasing different setups and formats.
From Januari 2007 we started with a brand new sublabel that contains only 3"CDr's coming in a transparent minidvd box with a full colour artwork by Koen Lybaert. So far we have releases by Ontayso, E.Stonji & Reejk Lynur, Mint, Ylid, Cheju, Sonmi451, -Scaldis-, Entia Non, Yamaoka, Joel Tammik, Joseph Auer, Hakobune, Zainetica, Insanic4, INKlings, Duncan O Ceallaigh and Forrest
in april 2004 we started u-cover cdr limited, a sublabel with exclusive and limited CDR releases. with this label we want to make sure that new talent still can find a place on the u-cover roster. all releases come in grey carton packaging. we've so far released exclusive music from Shortwave, Danieto, Insanic4, Joel Tammik, aus, Sherber harber mole flying wheel, Ontayso, Gizmo cosmos, Octavcat, Milieu, Cooler, Tomcats in Tokyo, Sonmi451, Yamaoka, Haarp, Gagarin, Pyratek, Tim Jackiw, Lan Formatique, Motoro faam, Zool., Biotron Shelf, -Scaldis, Paradigm, Flipper, Kutin, Flax Harmonade, Utom Alla, Renu, Caduceus, Forrest, Michael Santos, Entia Non, Hakobune, Remote_, Quosp, Joseph Auer, Ambidextrous, dirac and fjordne...Early 2008 we realised the 50th release on this label.
as u-cover records has released exclusive music from Starfish Pool, Quench, Llips., Lusine ICL, Esa Ruoho, The buddy system, Electric Birds, Skipsapiens, Ten and Tracer, Ontayso, Tim Koch, Sense, Iyunx Productions, Kettel, Danieto, Joel Tammik, Lackluster, Multiplex... altogether 27 releases. nice packaging and design were an integral part of this label. Stefan Alt has been mainly in charge of this great work. the cd packaging changed four times, from plastic bag packaging over a carton sleeve with the u-cover logo to digipacks since release 11 and since this year also for CDr release in Trimpack design or as regular CD in jewelcase, designed by Koen Lybaert. From 2006 on the mainlabel will be releasing only music by u-cover's own act Ontayso. Started with the massive project of 24 hours of music that will be coming in a limited on 45 transparent box and where a 2 hour selected parts will be released on a regular CD for a wider audience. A second edition of this 24hour box on 35 is still available.
before we've released music as silver recordings and respect wax (1995-1999) with releases by Unit moebius, Ra-x, Lowground, Rude 66, Starfish pool and Holon.
inc.us (2000-2002) was our vinyl offshoot, u-cover 40 (2003) a special sublabel that brought 4 releases of 40 minutes of music on a limited edition disc (500). the music on these releases was done by Ontayso, Deltidseskapism, Iyunx Productions and Cosmic Connection.
In march 2006 to end 2007 we had releases on u-cover transparente. Minimal design was the key on this label, best brought forward by transparant trimpak packaging. the music is varied, from ambient to minimal, from electronic to IDM. In total there are eight releases made by Ontayso, Danieto + Flipper, Motoro Faam, Sonmi451, Cheju and Mint. Not only in charge of the design, Stefan Alt in cooperation with Koen Lybaert created a project called lymph ltd. (2000-2001). this special project was based on sounds, beats and/or breaks sent from artists all over the world. then manipulated, mixed and worked out by Koen Lybaert aka Starfish Pool. from this work a 12" was released every 2 months containing one or two long tracks on the A side and 30 locked grooves on the B side. important names of the electronic scene have been collaborating with this project such as Kit Clayton, Holon, Quench, Llips., Passarani, L'usine, Funckarma, The Steve Mc Queen Trio, Sony-Mao, Scenic, Anton Price and Needle.
another activity we do is our independent webstore. here we offer a wide range of alternative CDs, CDRs, vinyls and DVDs next to our own catalogue. we send out regular a list with additions/updates to the catalogue (if you are interested to receive this mailing, you can add your e-mail address here). in 2008 we hope to open our u-cover download shop that will offer the complete u-cover catalogue in digital formats.
